Aim To investigate the effects of vacuum assisted closure(V.A.C)for the edema and the vessel permeabi lity of acute wound. Methods An acute skin wound model of rabbit ear was established, and then the right ear was treated wit h V.A.C(treatment group)and the left was treated with normal dressing(control group)for 2,4,6,8days,re-spectively.Total tissue water cont ent in wound was measured by the method of wet-dry subtraction.Evans Blue(EB)staining was used to measure the vessel permeability of the wound. Results Compared with the control group, the content of tissue water in the treatment group decreased signi fi-cantly after 2,4,6,8day treatment (P<0.05).The EB concentration in tissue also decreased greatly after4,6,8day treatment (P<0.01).Conclusion The vessel permeability and edema of the wound can be effi-ciently counteracted by V.A.C.
