19世纪以来,地处中国东南沿海的上海,逐渐成为一个新兴城市,商品经济迅猛发展,文化活动相继活跃起来,上海的画坛也呈现一派繁荣景象,大批文艺家纷纷涌入。在短短的几十年中,上海画坛形成了一支庞大的画家队伍。他们根据买画者的需要。
Ren Bonian was a reputed painting master, the main originator of the Shanghai school. He had obtained great achievements and numerous and splendid artistic flowers flourished during his short life of only fifty-six years. His paintings gave the observers im- pression of a vivid and animous atmosphere and fresh style, which made one feel the vigor of the nature.
