An External Perspectives Review on China's Economic Development and Reform

本文结合中国改革开放的历程和国际发展实践的变化 ,以及近年来中国参与国际财经合作的过程 ,回顾了国际社会对中国改革和发展的看法的演变 ,介绍了中国入世后国际舆论的最新动态 ,由此得出了对内深化改革、对外有效协调国际经济利益关系的重要启示。

The last two decades saw a dramatic shift in the perception toward China's development approach characterized by gradual reform based on domestic actualities. With the unfolding of China's remarkable achievements in economic and social development, there has been wide recognition of China's development strategy and its contribution to reshaping the international consensus on development. This paper reviews the evolution of the outside perception on China, in the context of China's reform and opening up process as well as the evolving global development theories and practices. The latest development of external view toward China is also introduced. A few observations on the strategy for future reforms and on international cooperation and coordination are derived from the analysis.
