中国传统"民本"思想存在着深刻的无法解决的内在矛盾,包括"民为邦本"与"君为邦主"的矛盾;"民本"思想与实践中的"官本位"意识的矛盾;"为民请命"与"忠心事主"的矛盾。这决定了传统"民本"思想不可能真正实现"以民为本",而是君本位论,是治人者的理论。江泽民从根本上克服了传统"民本"思想的这些内在矛盾,形成了包括人民本位论、人民主体论、人民利益论、人民民主论为主要内容的"执政为民"思想,实现了对传统"民本"思想的扬弃。

There are deep unsolvable inner contradictions in the traditional'people-based'thought.Those include contradictions between'the pe ople is the base of the state'and'the emperor is the master of the state',bet ween the'people-based'thought and'official-based'consciousness,and between 'being a person who pleads for the people'and'utter devotion to the emperor' .The traditional'people-based'thought is not the real thought of'people-bas ed',but the thought of'emperor-based'.Jiang Zemin has eliminated these contr adictions of the traditional'people-based'thought and formed his own thought of'serving people while in power'.This thought includes people's standard theo ry,people's subject theory,people's interest theory and people's democracy theor y,from which we can see that Jiang Zemin's thought is the sublation of the tradi tional'people based'thought.
