文革期间的外国文学翻译

The Translation of Foreign Literary Works during the Cultural Revolution

人们习惯用“一片空白”来描述文革期间的外国文学翻译状况。实际上,在此期间文学翻译仍然以一种畸形的状态存在着。按当时主流意识形态的接受程度,这期间外国文学译作的存在形式有三种——公开译作、内部译作和潜在译作。文革十年的确是近百年以来外国文学翻译的最低潮,但对翻译工作者们在这一特别时期所取得的成就也不能完全抹杀。

People tend to completely neglect the existence of the translation of foreign literary works during the 'Cultural Revolution'. In fact, literary translation did exist in one way or another. Dictated by the then dominant social ideology, the translated foreign literary works fall into three categories - openly accessible translations, translations with restricted circulation and unpublished translations. It is true that literary translation reached its nadir in the past one hundred years, but we should not disregard the achievements of the translators during that special period.
