Exploring the Principles of Translating Economic Literature

现有的翻译原则难以适用经贸外宣资料翻译,使现实中大量存在着的、具有重要意义的经贸外宣资料翻译无章可循。本文通过对经贸外宣资料语篇功能和翻译事例分析,提出经贸外宣资料翻译应遵循“译前编辑、信息等值、译文通畅”的原则。

Existing principles of translation are rarely applicable to translation of economic literature. Economic literature translation - indispensable to China' s foreign economic development - has hardly any clear principles to follow. The article sets out to address the problem. With text analysis and examples taken from economic literature translations, the author puts forward the view that one of the major principles of translating economic literature should be 'adaptation before translating, information equivalence, grammatical normality and lexical appropriateness'.
