On Systematic Causes of the Chinese Urbanization Model

新中国成立以来 ,城市化一直走的是一条“小城镇化”道路 ,其最根本 中 国 城 市 化 模 式 的 制 度 成 因 的原因是城乡分割的制度阻碍了城市聚集经济的形成和发展。虽然“小城镇化”为城市化的发展打下了一定基础 ,但造成了社会经济效益的严重损失。因此 ,现阶段应理性地选择“大城市化”的主导模式 ,并加快城市化制度创新。

Since the New China was founded,the Chinese urbanization has continuously been dominated by small cities and towns.The basic cause is the system of separating cities from countryside,which has hindered the formation and development of the urban agglomeration economics.The urbanization under the domination of small cities and towns has resulted in some critical damage to the social economic benefits,though it has laid some foundation.Therefore,the big cities dominating urbanization should be adopted at present as a guiding model,and the process of the urban system reform should be sped up.
