Poly(Phenylene sulfide sulfone) (PPSS) is a high performance polymer, which is an amorphous polymer with a T g around 215 ℃. The polymer can be prepared by nucleophilic aromatic substitution step polymerization,utilizing sodium sulfide as the nucleophile and 4,4′ dichlorodiphenyl sulfone as the activated aromatic halide. Currently, research efforts are being focused on the preparation of high molecular weight PPSS and the using of PPSS. The research advances in PPSS, including all kinds of synthetic methods and the properties of PPSS and its composites were introduced in this paper. The recent problems were reviewed and its development prospect was discussed.
