Features of Modern Competence in Chinese

现代社会是一个高科技、高交际、高信息、高效率的社会。与此相适应,现代语文能力呈现出典型的时代特征:突出创新精神;倡导效率意识;强化科技素养;重视口语交际;降低文言文要求。

Modern soc iety puts much emphasis on high technology, communication, information and efficiency . Accordingly, more attention should be paid to the cultivation of Chinese compe tences such as creativity, technological capability, communicative ability, etc. Efficiency also should be considered carefully in Chinese education, but it is unnecessary to make too much effort into the study of ancient Chinese prose.
