摘要
从跨文化的角度撷取霍克思译《红楼梦》中《咏白海棠》七律组诗为分析文本 ,从对偶、韵脚、文学意象及诗风等几个侧面分析比较中英文本 ;探讨在作者视界与译者视界发生碰撞 ,或者说 ,中西文化传统、审美价值发生碰撞时 ,译者如何以强烈的文化意识 ,发挥主观能动性 ,尊重中西文化间的巨大差异 ,融合不同视界 ,表现差异 ,再创造出译者所处时空认可的文本 ,使原作生命在时空上得以延伸。
From the perspective of intercultural studies, the article compares and analyzes the verbal parallelism, rhyme and literary images in the Chinese versions of four poems entitled Hymn to White Crab-blossom in A Dream of Red Mansions and their English counterparts translated by David Hawkes. Striking differences in cultural traditions and aesthetics are evident between the Chinese and English versions. The article proves that translations can be re-creational to provide the original text an afterlife. However, the translator must be fully aware of the differences and allows free rein in the subjective activity of translating the original.
