目前,我国使用海岛概念还很不规范,存在着各表一是的现象。海岛及其概念对于一个国家的政治、经济、生态环境和国防安全等具有极为重要的意义。法定海岛概念有着权威性、与国际接轨和内涵清晰、严谨、规范的优越性。规范使用海岛概念有利于保护我国海洋权益。

The usage of island concepts in our country is far from standard at present. The same concept being expressed differently in different occasions is just one case in point. An island and its concept is extremely significant to a nation’s politics, economy, eco-environment and national defense security. The legal concept of an island should be authoritative, gearing to the international standard with the conceptual advantages in clarity, accuracy and standard. It is beneficial to protect our maritime rights by using the concept of an island in a standard way.
