By introducing the development of Mazu-Worship in Taiwan and its corresponding folkcustom, this paper points out Mazu-worship, which is rather popular in Taiwan, has become an integral part of Taiwan folkcustom and culture, and expounds that the belief in Mazu plays special social functions such as moral support, personality adaptation, community integration and cultural identification.
