19世纪中期以后英国工人运动的发展一直因其改良主义倾向而受到指责,被认为是工人运动发展的歧路。但是从19世纪中期以后英国社会的全面发展来看,英国工人运动趋向改良主义完全是社会改良的结果,是社会文明进步的产物。因此随着社会的进步与发展,工人运动走向改良主义是必然的趋势,它是工人运动发展的主流方向而并非一条歧路。

Since the mid-19th century the development of the B ri tish workers movement has been criticized for its reformism tendency,and has bee n considered as a wrong way of the workers movement.But judging the all-round d evelopment of British society from the mid-19th century,the workers movement te nding to reformism was the result of the social improvement and the product of s ocial civilization and advancement.With the advancement and development of the s ociety,the workers movement forwarding to the reformism was a necessary tendency .It was the main development current of the workers movement and not a devious o ne.
