蔡元培是20世纪上半叶中国著名教育家、美育思想家也是美育实践的躬身践行者,对于中国现代美术教育的发展起到了重要的推动作用。同时,他还是29世纪中西方美术史论的研究者之一,他编纂和写作了中国美术史与西方美术史的多个篇章,发表了许多重要的美术理论与美术批评,这些论文或演讲稿已成为中国现代美术史研究的重要史料。

CaiYuanpei was a famous Chinese educator and thinker of art education in the early part of 20 th century.He was also a practical art educator,and played an important role in the modern art education in China.Besides,it might be easily ignored that he was one of the researchers of Chinese and Western art history and theory in 20 th century.He edited and wrote many papers of Chinese art history and western art history,and published many important art theory and art criticism,and his papers and those for speech became significant historical materials for Chinese modern art research.
