In this paper, some deleting principles of foreign periodicals in original editions are discussed. The principles include the ways of deleting periodicals which should be rationally chosen according to classification order or crowding degree on bookshelves, and the names of periodicals which should be correctly found after recognizing subject names, subheading names, the names of the part publications, the periodicals, the sub-periodicals, or the special-periodicals. Periodicals and sub-periodicals, according to their characteristics, should be correctly differentiated and placed in the order of year, volume and issue. The suitable thickness of the periodicals and sub-periodicals taking off from the shelves should also be determined.
