On Triple Dimensions of the Living Epics Translation of Minority Nationalities

活态史诗翻译既关涉语言转换和文本迻译,又要再现史诗表演的文化语境,核心是在译入语书面文化中如何再现和表达史诗口语文化的意义与语境。对活态史诗译介的三个维度,包括史诗的语言维度即史诗语言的诗性特点、文化维度即文化表征功能和语境维度即口头表演语境进行聚焦。研究发现,借鉴民族志诗学、人类学深度描写、多模态话语等最新理论成果,可以构建一种涵盖活态史诗语言、文化和语境三重维度的多模态翻译模式,从而再现活态史诗的原初样态和艺术魅力。

Translation of living epics entails language conversions and text translations on the one hand,and representation of the cultural contexts of epic performances on the other.Therefore the core in translation lies in re-expression of the meaning and reproduction of contexts of epics in oral culture via written language in target culture.To this end,three dimensions shall be involved in the translation of living epics,namely,epic poetics for language dimension,cultural function for cultural dimension and oral performance for context dimension respectively.The study finds that,by drawing on the latest theoretical achievements of ethno poetics,anthropological thick translation and multimodal discourse,we can put forward a multimodal translation model that incorporates triple dimensions of living epics translation so as to represent the original artistic charms of living epics of ethnic minorities to readers across the world.
