The Development of the Use of the Chinese Character"Ghost" and Its Influence on Chinese Vocabulary

从词汇的消亡和新生、语义的发展、语法功能的演进三大方面考察了“鬼”字用法的发展情况。其中,从原始社会、奴隶社会、封建社会、现代社会的社会发展中探究了文化的发展对“鬼”词汇发展的影响,从而进一步分析了“鬼”的语义系列的演变过程以及由此引起的语法方面的演进。

The paper studies the development of the use of the Chinese charcater 鬼(ghost)from three angles:disappearance and creation of words, development of meaning and evolution of grammatical fanction. It also probes into the effects of the cultural development on the use of the character from primitive society, slavery society, through feudal soceity to modern soceity. Finally, the changing process of the meaning of the character and鬼(ghost)its change in grammar are revealed.
