On the Art of Shen Congwen' s Sketches

本文通过对《湘西》和《湘行散记》两本散文集的重新审视,揭示了中国散文发展的成熟时期,沈从文用湘西人特有的语言艺术与绘画技巧,构筑了神形独特的“湘西世界”,极大地充实和奠定了“乡土散文”在文学史中的地位。

Through reviewing the two collections of prose, i.e. The Western Hunan and Sketches on a Trip to Hunan, the paper discovers that in the mature period of prose development in China, Shen Congwen has built 'a World of the Western Hunan', which is distinctive in appearance and spirit, with unique language and painting skills from the people in the Western Hunan. Therefore, the place of 'Local Prose in Chinese literature has been established and greatly strengthened.
