The Characteristics of Ancient Gentleman Personality and Its Enlightenment to College Teachers' Professional Ethics

当今高校教师的师德现状不容乐观,重道德是中国传统君子人格的本质,自强自省、重义轻利、仁爱孝悌等是君子人格的内在特征,而容貌庄严、诚信明礼、言行一致、和而不同等则是君子人格的外在风度。高校教师应以君子人格要求自己,务本敬业、主动学习、经常自省、谨言慎行,切实提高自身道德素养。

The status quo of teachers' morality in today's Chinese colleges is far from being optimistic. Morality is emphasized as the essence of Chinese traditional gentleman personality,with qualities of self-introspection,justice,love,filial piety,et cetera,being the inward characteristics of gentleman personality and qualities of dignified appearance,honesty and trustworthiness,accordance of words with deeds,accommodation of divergent views,et cetera,being the outward demeanor of gentleman personality. It is advisable that college teachers set strict moral demands on themselves in light of gentleman personality and gradually enhance their virtue and accomplishment through conscientious work,active learning,regular self-examination,cautious comportment,et cetera.
