"博士"一词自产生以来,其语义演变主要经历了如下几个阶段:1.遍通古今的博学之士;2.学官名;3.对擅长某种技艺或专门从事某种职业之人的尊称;4.大学中最高一级学位。
The word 'doctor', ever since its coming into being, has undergone several semantic evolutions: first, as a learned scholar which can be observed through both the past and present; second, as an educational official title; third, an honorific title for a person who is an expert in acertain skill or engaged in a profession; finally, the highest academic degree at a university.
