In the paper, the basic application of the hybrid orbital theory and the VSEPR in molecular configuration and a comparative study on them are reported.By comparison, the application of the hybrid orbital theory is broader than the VSEPR. It is important to teach the hybrid orbital theory in college chemical teaching.
