Naphthalene, phthalic anhydriae ana Maleic anhydride gasses were emitted from a chemical factory and irritated neibouring inhabitant. We detected these substances in the leeward direction of 300 m far from the factory, and found that the maximum concentration and mean daily Concentration of naphthalene was 0.007 and 0.020 mg/m3, for the maleic anhydride, it was 0.39 and 0.55 mg/m3. These concentrations all exceeded the standard of USSR and irritated the eyes and upper respiratory tract and made a bad hygienic condition to the neighbouring inhabitant. The severe polluted radius was 500 m, when in the bad meteorologic circumstance, the polluted radius will be no less than 1 km.
