社会工程学是以社会政策、法规、计划等的设计概念为核心的,将人文科学、社会科学、自然科学、工程学等学科的知识和技术进行重构与整合,并具有自己特殊内容的新兴学科。社会工程具有交叉科学的特点,它要求体现理论研究与方法论研究相结合、归纳分析与演绎推理相结合、逻辑模型分析与数理模型分析相结合、矛盾思维与系统思维方法相结合、理论分析与案例分析相结合的原则建构社会工程研究的方法论。社会工程思维的特征是模式化思维和决策性思维。在这种思维的过程中始终要处理好两个基本范畴的关系,这就是规律和对策的矛盾统一关系。社会工程研究中的模式和对策都体现了规律与价值的矛盾统一。
