Being quite different from cultural relativism and emotivism, Rawls and Kant represent the Western Enlightenment tradition in its full blown sense, although they are derived from the same origins. Rawls' the veil of ignorance can be compared to a life game in which each man's fate is determined by card he may draw. The essence of Rawls' theory of justice is equality: the equality of civil liberties, equality with respect to distribution of wealth, and finally the equality of opportunity.
