On Xi-ren's Selfishness

花袭人是《红楼梦》众奴婢中最丰满的典型形象之一,就其最本质的思想性格特征而言,则是强烈的利己主义。为了在贾府站稳立足,爬上宝二姨娘地位,她"作怪"不怪,攻心有术,谗害同类。纵观她的为人处世,一言一行,无一不是为了达到利己的个人目的。

Being one of the fullest_developed images in the Dreams of the Red Mansion, Xi_ren is characterized by her strong selfishness. In order to climb up onto the upper class in the feudal society, she spares no efforts to set up her peers and doesn't hesitate to harm them with treacherous conspiracies. She is crafty, shrewd, tricky and deep, and above all, selfish.
