Macao was the first city in China to open to the outside world; it was also the first territory to be seized by western colonists. In order to uphold China's sovereignty, the national hero Lin Zexu took a series of measures including banning opium, strengthening administration and military defense, and defending China's judicial sovereignty. His actions displayed strong patriotism and his contributions will remain in immortal in annals.
