An Exploration of the Methods and Techniques of Teaching English in English

我国学生学习英语“费时低效”的现象很普遍,究其原因十分复杂,教师在课堂上没有最大限度地用英语进行教学,创造英语语言氛围,激发学生学习英语的欲望,培养学生英语语感,增加英语表达的多样性和复现率是其主要原因之一。本文探讨用英语讲授英语的词、短语、句、段直至全文的方法和技巧,进而达到创造英语语言环境,改变学生普遍存在的学习英语“费时低效”的状况和提高教学效果的目的。这种用英语教英语的方法和技巧不仅有助于提高教学效果,还能提高教师自身的英语水平。当然,用英语进行课堂教学并不是一概而论,对于那些不宜用英语解释的语言现象,用汉语释义更为直接,准确,效果更好。

It is very common to see the “time-consuming and less effective'situation when students in China are learning English.The causex are complex,but it is undoubted that one of the main causes lies in the fact that teachers do not use English as much as possible in classroom teaching.So they cannot create an English environment,nor stimulate students' learning interest,nor cultivate their English sense,nor multiply the use of English expressions.This paper deals with the teaching methods and techniques of teaching English in English,aiming to create an English environment in class,develop students' English sense,and change the “time-consuming and less effective'situation.Through the teaching methods and techniques,teachers not only obtain high teaching and learning efficiency but also raise their own professional level.Of course,it is necessary to point out that using English to teach English materials in class is never an exclusive method.For some English words that are not easily explained,especially abstract words and phrases,Chinese should be used to interpret them.By means of the explanation in their native language,students would find it easy to understand them directly and accurately.
