The embankment construction on the soft soil base in bridge head concernes with whether or not there are vehicle dumps between the abutment and the abutment back embankment. From the design and construction of the embankment on the soft soil base,this paper presents the construction study of soft soil base at the abutment, the selection of the embankment filling materials at the abutment back, the drainage and construction methods of the embankment filling at the abutment back, the geotextile spreading method, the settlement observation of the embankment on the soft soil base,and the control measures of the constructional quality, etc. Some questions to be noted have instrucive roles for design and construction of the embankment on the soft soil base so as to research for and solve the vehicle dumps in the bridge head.
