Availability analysis of energy is based on the reversible-work theorem. Maximum-reversible-work is an important thermodynamic concept which forms the core part of exergy concept. According to the reversible-work theorem, expressions of maximum-reversible-work have been derived by means of the surrounding analysis method (SAM) in the paper. Basic train of thought for deriving and relevant prerequisites are introduced emphatically. The paper provides authors' point of views to readers for the purpose of reference on the concepts which are still arguable.
