孔子被尊为圣人 ,其教育思想理论直到现代仍然具有重要影响。他主张平等教育 ,将文明传播于全社会 ;主张适宜教育 ,对不同对象采取不同的教育方法 ;主张诱导教育 ,运用触类旁通教育手段 ;主张渐进教育 ,以实现潜移默化的教育效果 ;主张辩证教育 ,将教与学有机统一 ;主张陶冶教育 ,使学生在愉快中感受求知的乐趣。孔子不愧是中国历史上最有影响的教育家。
