The Influence of Westernization Movement on Modernization of China

发生在19世纪60—90年代的洋务运动以“自强”、“求富”为标榜,采用西方先进生产技术,在中国兴办了一批军工企业和民用企业。这些新式企业的出现,引起了近代中国社会领域的深刻变化,揭开了中国近代工业革命的序幕,推动了近代中国向近现代化道路的迈进。虽然洋务运动本身未能使中国走向近现代化的道路,但它对日后中国人民探索近现代的道路产生了深远的影响。

Westernization Movement, advocated from the 1860's to 1890's, aims at improving the national power and seeking wealth, thus introducing the western advanced technologies and establishing a number of enterprises have exerted a far - reaching influence upon the social lives in modern China, which signifies the emergence of the industrial revolution in modern China and leads China toward the progression of modernization. Although it, by itself, has finally failed to accomplish the Chinese modernization, Westernization Movement has shown deep influence upon Chinese people's exploration of the modernization in China.
