党的十六大确立了全面建设小康社会的战略目标。作为承接科技转化为生产力这一桥梁作用的成人教育,在加快经济发展、全面推进小康社会建设中将发挥重要的作用。主要体现在,促进教育发展,促进劳动力水平和全民素质的提高,推动知识经济的发展,以及推动农村快速脱贫致富这样四个方面。

The establishment of the strategic goal of building China on a full scale into a well-off society in the report of the 16 th Chinese Communist Party Congress has brought about great efforts in all fields to work toward a well-off society.Then, how can adult education play it's inherent role of brdging the gap between science and technology and production to contribute to the development of economy and the constuction of a well-off society.
