The structure and start-up feature of GE 600 MW turbine were introduced. The operation principles of duel directional tilt pad bearings, taper-faced thrust bearing and casing sliding system were described. Cold & hot start-up mode, casing pre-warming, turbine bypass system and its control, steam admission mode selection and variable pressure operation modes were discussed. Recommendations on thermal stress control in start-up process were put forward as reference for operation of similar unit.
