This essay analyzes the characteristics of the cloze test in CET and TEM. It holds that English teachers should place the emphasis on the vocabulary teaching and the students' comprehensive competence cultivating, in order to improve their abilities to pass the cloze test. It also presents some skills to deal with the cloze test.
