The Call of the Wild is the first bestseller of Jack London, who is one of the best novelists in the early 20 th century in America. One of the reasons of this work's everlasting charm lies in its successful portrayal of the canine protagonist Buck: Buck is not only all in one, the writer's own contradictory thoughts influenced by the ideas of Darwin, Nietzsche, Spencer and Marx, but also the perfect integration of the doggery and humanity.
