PROBING INTO URBAN COMPETITIVENESS

随着全球经济一体化、信息化时代的到来,各国各地区进入城市化高度发展的阶段,城市在区域经济发展中的地位日益重要,城市之间的竞争也愈趋激烈。重视和提升城市竞争力是有效推进城市化的关键所在。通过对上述大背景的认真反思,对有关城市竞争力概念等方面的国际理论进行简析,提出提升城市竞争力的5个关键性层面:原有基础的修复,以主导行业为核心,人力资源的发挥,资金与资本市场的运作以及研究与开发的潜力。

At present, the world economy has turned into a global economy and a knowledgebased economy. These two trends are driving the great changes of the world in fields of society, economy, politics, and culture, etc. The international competition between countries or enterprises increasingly intensifies. Cities, as the important component of the competition between countries, the carrier of the competition between enterprises, and the main living place for the people, become more and more important in the international competition. In the process of urbanization, city is playing an important role in regional economy development. Urban competition also becomes more intensive. Based on the study and analysis of the concept and basic theories of urban competitiveness, the five key aspects about how to promote urban competitiveness are probed as follows: recovering prime basis, paying attention to leading industries, developing resource of labor power, operating fund and capital market, and enhancing potential of research and development.
