By comparison and analysis, this article finds that native speakers of Chinese and English have a shared thinking mode in their hyperbole expressions. That is, both have the tendency of overstating the high, the big, the good, the strong, the heavy while understating the low, the small, the bad, the weak and light. The paper then analyzes the respective peculiarities of English and Chinese hyperboles, i.e., the peculiarities of English and Chinese hyperboles in such aspects as cultural differences as well as 'hypotaxis' and 'parataxis'. The authors also suggest that Chinese comparative hyperbole and hyperbole in advance are of particular charm.
