A New Predictive Three-Step Search Algorithm

提出了一种用于运动估计的预测三步搜索 ( PTSS)算法 ,它是基于三步搜索 ( TSS)算法 ,同时充分利用了运动向量场的空间和时间相关性的一种块匹配运动估计算法 .该算法特别适用于视频格式转换的运动补偿插值 .实验结果表明 ,与传统的 TSS、新三步搜索 ( NTSS)、全搜索 ( FS)算法相比 ,利用 PTSS算法补偿得到的图像帧 ,其图像的主观质量有明显的提高 ,具有更加平滑的运动矢量场 ,且图像帧同原始帧之间的最小平方误差 ( MSE)

This paper proposed a new predictive three step search algorithm (PTSS), based on three step search algorithm. The algorithm is a kind of block matching motion estimation algorithm, which adequately utilizes the spatial and temporal correlation of motion vector field. The algorithm can be effectively applied in the motion compensated interpolation in the video format conversion. The experimental results show that the image that is interpolated by PTSS not only has an impressively subjective quality, but also has more smooth motion vector field and less MSE compared with source frame than traditional TSS, NTSS, or FS.
