A method for improving the functions of workf l ow management of the PDM software IMAN, including monitoring, counting, analyzin g and reporting, is put forward. The depth-first search method is used to recog nize closed loops and the method of draw-feedback-intervene is advanced to fig ure them. The method is also feasible and effective to improve other workflow ma nagement systems of PDM.
