A Preliminary Exploration on the Word-making of Fanqie

长期以来 ,人们都知道反切是一种为汉字注音的方法 ,却没有人论及它与汉字的产生有什么直接的联系。其实 ,反切从来就是一种造字法。文章采用历时研究与实证分析相结合的方法 ,探讨了反切造字法的起源、操作方法和发展概况 。

People know that Fanqie is a method of phonetic notation of Chinese characters, but neglect its close link with the origin of the Chinese characters. In fact Fanqie is a method of making word. This paper discusses, with the methods of chronological research and documentary analysis, the origin, operation and general development of the word making method-Fanqie,as to prove Fanqie is still being applyed do word making today.
