This article introduces the coal gasification process and dimethylether production process. It also makes a preliminary estimate of investment on dimethylether plant form coal. It points out that there are still some problems in dimethylether separation process. It recommends that the production scale should be larger than 200 000 t/a. for dimethyether plant with coal as raw material. For the underground dimethylether plant with coal as raw material, its production scale should be larger than 10 000 t/a.
