While making joint efforts to combat the SARS wreaking havoc in this countryand around the world, Chinese scientists call for further strengthening China's medical research. Ina report presented to the State Council on April 22, 22 CAS members from different researchorganizations in the field of life sciences urge the central authorities to set up a nationalinstitution to consolidate and finance the country's medical and health research efforts underdifferent jurisdictions.
