长江生态系统由于地理和历史原因形成了当今富有特色的自然生态与经济系统相结合的格局,是一个可以人为调节与控制、预测与管理的人工生态系统。长江流域在地域地势、人口、气候、水土、农业、矿产、水利、航运、旅游、环保等方面的特点,以及这一流域所产生的社会与经济效益,在我国国民经济中越来越占有举足轻重的地位。充分认识长江流域的自然资源与生态环境以及长江生态系统的组成与特点,准确把握自然地理条件与流域经济发展的内在联系,对利用长江流域的资源与环境优势发展经济具有重要意义。

The Changjiang River Ecosystem was formed under the influence of geography and history.It can be regulated,controlled,forecasted and managed artificially. It has become more and more important in China's economy owing to its location,climate,the population ,its influences on agriculture,shipping,tourism and its role in the social and economical life in ChinaIt is of great importance to fully understand the formation and characteristcs of the Changjiang River Ecosystem and the internal relationship between the natural geographical conditions and the economical development in the region.
