李峤、杜审言、苏味道、崔融年轻时就号为“文章四友”的说法并不可信,同时“崔李苏杜”的名次排列乃是依四人的诗文在当时宫廷中的地位与影响来决定的。“文章四友”作为以文为友新风尚推就下形成的文人集团,它的形成方式本身就全面反映那一特定的政治文化环境中新兴士子以文章致身的生动情态。反之,以文为友的风尚也影响了四人的文学创作,打开了唐人诗歌表现内容的一个新视界。
