“Benevolence” vs. “Militarism” ——In Comparison of Sino-Western Traditional Civilization

中西方文明在演进过程中表现出各自的模式与特征 ,前人在此领域已有许多优秀的论著 ,但在中西文明比较方面 ,著述与论文相对较少。本文针对中华民族“亲贵和一、礼尚往来”的“尚善”精神与西方文明“平等自由、开拓进取”的“尚武”精神作一根源性的比较分析 。

During their developing process, the Chinese and Wester n civilization s appear to be different in modes and features, on which many excellent books an d essays have been written but short of comparison. This text sets out to compar e and analyze from their headstreams the “benevolence” of Chinese people with th e characteristics of “kindness, mildness, peace, unity and friendly intercommun i cation” and “militarism” of Western civilization with the characteristics of equ ality, liberty, initiative and progressive”, which aims to promote the communic ation among various races.
