As an important literary phenomenon in the Western literary history, utopian literature or literary utopia (especially Utopian and anti-Utopian/dystopian fictions) has not been treated with due emphasis. As far as we Chinese scholars are concerned, it is particularly true that we barely pay serious attention to this sub-genre of literature. This has not only shielded us from understanding Western literary history as a whole, but hindered us from those possibilities of obtaining valuable literary resources. As an important sub-genre of novel, Utopian and anti-Utopian/dystopian fictions can offer us a special perspective in interpreting human being's existent situations, in reflecting our ideas of literature, moreover, in re-writing our literary history both at home and abroad.
