Thoughts on Optimizing Foreign Language Teaching to FL Majors

21世纪,国际间政治、经济、文化往来日益频繁。为培养具有国际视野的高素质外语人才,外语教学改革势在必行。本文从培养复合型外语专业人才入手,提出优化外语专业课教学的基本思路,特别强调培养学生的跨文化交际能力。

This paper makes a study of reform in foreign language teaching aligned with China's entry into the WTO. It argues that curricula offered at the university for English majors should be designed to meet the fast changing world and rapidly developing high technology. And teaching of high quality bases on careful selection of teaching material and unceasing improvement of teaching methods. Students of English are expected to be well-read, competent in intercultural communication, creative in thinking, morally sound and mentally healthy. The paper concludes with emphasizing the importance of cultivating interdisciplinary personnel to meet market demand in the new century.
