This paper elaborates the operating principle of the ESP and points out the application scope of the ESP in dewatering gas production as well as its features . It also analyses the major problems which result in cable breakdown, such as the gas interference and the infiltration of the gas into insulating layer of the cable, and proposes some methods to solve these problems. It summarizes the experiences of success and failures in ESP's applications in dewatering gas production and it has guideact to the development and popularization of this technology.
