The Naked and the Dead is one of the most influential novels about World WarⅡ.Most Chinese critics analyzed the novel from the prospective of naturalism or existentialism.This article argues that the novel manifests,the author,Norman Mailer's outlook of history.Rewriting history in modernist style and deconstructing the traditional historical narrative,which centers on a certain hero who determines the development of history,Mailer represents his unique view on hero and historical development.
