摘要
无线局域网标准IEEE802.11(即Wi-Fi))技术已成为全球关注的焦点,但存在互操作、安全等应用隐患,覆盖范围也极其有限。因此,具有更好互操作性、更安全、无线接入点覆盖范围大大扩展的固定宽带无线接入标准IEEE802.16技术恰逢其时地进入了人们的视野,利用它可以提供更完美的宽带无线接入解决方案。为促进它的研究和应用,成立了WiMAX论坛。另外,802.16标准还存在一些不足。
WLAN standard IEEE802.11(i.e.Wi-Fi)technology has be-come the focus in the world.But there are some application problems in inter-operation and safety and its coverage is rather limited.Therefore,fixed broad-band wireless access standard IEEE802.16technology emerged with better interoperability,better safety and wider coverage.More perfect broadband wireless access solution can be provided with it.To promote its research and application,WiMAX Forum was estab-lished.In addition,there are some disad-vantages in802.16standard.
